[Grammar] Compound Subject

1) A, B, and C are best friends.
2) A, B, C are best friends. In sentence 1, the compound subject used the conjunction "and"(A, B, and C) and in sentence 2, without conjunction (A, B, C). Here my doubt is can we use the compound subject without conjunction or it must be necessary for compound subject?

You need the 'and'.

The depressed, the stressed, the lonely, the fearful—all
have trouble coping with problems. Here no conjunction is used betwwen nouns, why?

Could we use in this way?
A series without a conjunction
Examples:The couch is loud, profane, demonstrative.
With wisdom, patience, virtue, Queen Victoria directed the course of 19th century England.
The United States has a government of the people, by the people, for the people.

I would not say that these were actually incorrect, but they are written in a rather affected style. Most native speakers/writers would use 'and' before the final item in the list.

The last example sounds less unnatural because it is so well known and often repeated.
