Dear Teachers, please help me sort these out.

1) I am flattered that they should be so supportive.

Does it mean "If they are so supportive, I will be flattered"? (The speaker does not know whether they are supportive, but he probably will. )

2) He hadn't meant to sound belittling, and yet Sophie was light-years out of her league.

What is "light-years"? I don't get the latter part of the sentence.

3) Lewis: What kinda noise?
Ross: Just a high pitched intimidating noise.
Lewis: But like how?
Ross makes a high pitched noise and Alan doesn't know what to make of it.

What does "what to make of it" mean in the context?

Thanks very much! :)

I'm no teacher, but here's my go:

No, this means they are supportive.

He hadn't meant to sound belittling, and yet Sophie was light-years out of her league.
Ligh-year is a unit of distance. This means she was way out of her league. She hadn't what it takes (skills, knowledge, strength, willpower...) to do what she was doing compared to the others (eg. her colleagues, the other players, etc.).

Ross makes a high pitched noise and Alan doesn't know what to make of it.
Couldn't use the information. He didn't know where the sound was coming from, or what it meant.
