I think that computers in the classroom are unnecessary. My ESL program had to fight long and hard to get textbooks which only cost about $20-30 per student. A computer costs at least $400 (www.e4me.com) with most people spending more. The money can be better spent by hiring more teaching personnel, helpers, and buying written reading materials.

It depends on the set-up. All schools and colleges here in the UK are linked up and have good IT facilities. ;-)
