Hi I am struggling with my AS English because I am confused about categorising nouns. Could you please tell me if these are abstract nouns:
beginning
pension
corner
summer
year
holidays
birthday
subject
I think they are because you can't touch them but I'm unsure!
Would pounds be concrete because you can count them?
Thank you
Nat

Just ask whether they have a physical existence. In a case like 'pension', you could argue that the concept is abstract, but when you collect the cash it's concrete, but the idea is abstract.

BTW- you can touch a corner. ;-)
