I am especially interested in the meaning of "confront" and its use as "confront with a threat." I cannot very well understand the meaning of "confront with a threat". I confuse that verb with some other. I am giving the definitions in my mind.

Cope with: to fight or fight and win a problem so that the the thing being coped with cannot damage or continue to be a big problem.
Meet: To face with, not frightening with the problem and moving on it.

So I would like to ask you which one is closer to "confront with"

Is "confront with a threat" very close to "meet a threat" or "cope with a threat"?

Thank you.

"confront" can simply mean "to come face-to-face with" or it can mean "to decisively take on or fight against something (usually something unpleasant)".

I turned the corner and was confronted with the sight of a huge lion blocking my path! I decided to face my fear and I confronted the lion, staring at it and growling until it walked away.
