confusion between "accroding to me" and "In my opinion "

hi please tell me the diffrence when do we have to use " According to me " and when do we have to use " IN MY opinion " ..
for e.g. some One asks me...
what is the status of the playing team ??
my ans wer whould be Accroding to me , it is playing poorly...
Or
in my opinion it is playing poorly.....

In my opinion = This is what I think or believe

According to me = as stated by me (it is not a phrase you will hear much! You will be much more likely to hear "According to the paper/the TV news/[journalist's name]/the experts....")

Use the first if asked "What is the status of the ...."
