In business a customer is a client, a person who buys products or services, and a consumer is a person who uses products.
EX: I am a customer. (I buy products or services)
EX: I am a consumer. (I use products)
Advertising focuses on consumers (people who use products) so that those people will buy the products advertised. When people buy products they become customers; before they buy the product, they are considered potential customers.
