Hi there,

Kindly guide me on the correct selection for the statement below
and if possible please provide explaination. My choice was are with the
fact that sisters are in a group but was told that the anser should be is.
Kindly assist with thanks.

Hi dtan, and welcome to Using English,

When you have "as well as... " ignore that part in determining the verb.

The verb matches the main subject, even though the "as well as..." will make it feel as though the plural is more appropriate.
