Correct way of writing times

Please could you advise me of the correct format in which times should be written, i.e., when writing 8pm should there be a space between the "8" and the "pm"?

You will see it written in many ways:

8.00 p.m.
8 p.m.
8.00 pm
8 pm
8.00p.m.
8pm


The space is preferable as it separates the numeral and "post meridiem".
