I'm not a teacher, but a postcard is simply a small piece of card, normally with a photograph on one side and space for writing on the back. It is usually sent as is, without being put into an envelope. A letter, on the other hand, is written on a piece (or many pieces) of paper, and is normally mailed in an envelope.
What about the usage ? Is there any different?
I mean their purposes. can I send the postcard to any one for any occasion?
so, this is the difference between them. I send the letter any time but the post card according to the occasion, is that right?
could you tell me about those occasions that I should send a post card not a letter?

in my country we mail post cards for Christmas, someone's birthday, Easter etc. to wish all the best;-)
