Cut out on screen protector.

1) You cannot use iPhone 4 screen protector for iPhone 5 because the cut out on the screen protector is out of alignment/is in the wrong position.
2) The cut out on the screen protector is out of place and are not at where they are supposed to be.


Hope somebody can help me with the above sentences. Thank you so much.

1. I prefer "is in the wrong position". It is not out of position, but it is wrong for the task at hand.

2. I find this too generic. It makes it sound as if the new protector is defective. It just doesn't fit the earlier model.

Sentence 2 mentions a singular "cut out" and then refers to where "they are" supposed to be.

I agree with Mike that "is in the wrong position" is the better phrase. SoothingDave also pointed out the error with "is" and "are".
