Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

However, they might be a dab hand at needlework or crochet.
dab hand = a person who is very skilled in a particular activity; expert

The ball landed smack-dab at our feet.
The plane landed smack-to-dab in the middle of the hay field.
smack-dab = exactly; squarely; precisely

Thank you for your efforts.

Regards,

V.

I think ‘smack’ as adverb also means ‘exactly’. You use ‘smack-dab’ to express absolute conformity.
