Entry 6 of this dictionary definition ( learnersdictionary.com/search/day ) has this sentence:

1 "We sell books dating from 1875 to the present day."

which caused me to compose these sentences:

2 "We sell books dating from 1875 ."
3 "We sell books dating back to 1875 to the present day."
4 "We sell books dating back to 1875."

Could sentence 2 be equal to sentence 1? Could sentence 3 be the same as sentence 1, with "dating from" = "dating back to"?

Although the expressions 'date from' and 'date back to' are synonymous, you cannot make a sentence such as #3, which should be amended to

"We sell booksdating from between 1875 and the present day."
