I am wondering if it is correct to write "born at the seaside". Would you please correct the mistakes in my sentence?

David was born at the seaside, and he had always a deep affection for the sea.

I would use something like "near the coast" or "in a coastal town/village" instead of "at the seaside." I would also switch "he" and "had" around.

I'd say "... he had always had a deep affection ..."
