Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough tell me whether I use proper the mentioned above expressions at the due places in the following sentences?
He’s dead set against that plan.
He’s dead set on a naval career so we had better let him go to a Naval Training College.
dead set against - Completely opposed to, in complet disagreement with; as in
“His parents were dead set against John's taking a year off from college.”
dead set on – determined to do,
“Bert, then fifteen and dead set on becoming a fisherman, might nevertheless be able to lend a hand now…”
“Matthew is dead set on keeping the house.”
“If you really are dead set on staying to help, there is something you could do.”
