My students are going debate on the topic above. Could you me find points where television has not improve our lives?

Television encourages inactivity, and it encourages people to learn of events passively (by watching television) instead of actively (by reading or talking to people).

People become more sedentary beings in this manner, both physically and mentally.

sediere - Italian for 'sit', if I remember correctly. I think that's it.

It's not a good way to be a more conversational person. I wonder if before television conversation amongst people was seen differently and thought of differently. Is conversation more bland now as a result of television? I think this is a possibility.

Sedentary is the word, alright. For some of us, the most exercise we usually get is the walk from the chair at the computer to the sofa in front of the teevee.

A huge amount of time is wasted watching adverts.
It destroys conversation
It makes people passive- they don't need to think when watching television.
The quality opf programmes is low, it's despicable
;-)

I don't have a TV- I gave it up years ago. It's much easier to quit TV than cigarettes. ;-(
