Describing anxiety following huge disappointment using the word "hands" in an express

Hello,

I am looking for an expression in English describing a person's action with their hands, after hearing a very disappointing news. I read it once but forgot what it was.

For example, following a very disappointing and totally unexpected election results, the disappointed person would do something like this: beat their right hand against the left one, and the left against the right, alternating this action.

Is there an expression like that?

Many thanks.

It sounds like "wringing their hands" to me. It's associated with people who are very upset and/or very worried.

Great! Thank you ever so much.
