I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct. Do I need an article in before "countryside"?

Despite having a good life, Anna could never accustom to the city. She yearned for countryside until her death.

Despite having a good life, Anna [STRIKE]could[/STRIKE] never became accustomed to the city. She yearned for the countryside until her death.

See above.

I would use "despite having lived a good life" given that she's now dead.
