I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct. Is it correct not use "she" after "and"?

Despite turning eighty, Anna had decided to keep fit and started dancing salsa.

I would say, e.g., "and took up salsa dancing" instead of "and started dancing salsa".
I would also change "had decided to keep fit" to, e.g., "was determined to be/stay".

Yes, there's no need for "she" in the above.

If you write "despite being eighty", it would mean she decided when she was eighty. "Turning eighty" would signal the decision was perhaps made before.
