Did Englsih Change a lot?

Greetings:

While I read some books I liked, such as An Inquiry Into The Nature and Causes of The Wealth of nations by Adam Smith or A TREATISE CONCERNING THE PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN KNOWLEDGE by George Berkeley, I feel something different from what I read in CNN .com .
It is not the subject different but something concern the grammar I think.
Sadly I can't make out what the different exactly, so I post here to pray for help. Maybe my feeling is wrong:?:

English is changing all the time. Adam Smith wrote at the end of the 18th century, and George Berkeley at the start of the 18th century when English was still not completely grammaticised.
