2 Song did not dare open it immediately because of the crowd, so she put it in her pocket.

Could you please tell me why the first sentence used "did not dare to do" while the second sentence used" did not dare do"?

You can use either with the negative.

I can't explain why, but to me "to" is necessary in sentence 1 and wouldn't work in sentence 2.
