Which is the best one 'disadvantaes IN doing sth', 'disadvantages OF doing sth' and 'disadvantages TO doing sth'?. Is it a question of prepositions or does it also depend on the subject or object you choose, i.e. There are a lot of disadvantages of/in/to doing sth' or 'The disadvantages of sth are many and...'. I hope I have made myself understood. Thanks.

It depends on the context....
Examples:
There is a disadvantage in selling stock when the price is low.

I wish I could give you a rule but I am afraid you are just going to have to learn the common forms.... Using prepositions is confusing even for native speakers.

That's what I thought. Normally with 'there is/are sentences' you use IN, otherwise you use 'of' and occasionally 'to'. Thank you very much. I also have this sort of problems even in Spanish -though I reckon not as often as in English-. You've been most kind.
