Dear teachers,

I know the meaning of the idiom "do one's bit", also "do one's part" namely: "make an individual contribution to an overall effect" as in

"You can always rely on Ann to do her bit." or
"I'm anxious to do my parts as a board member."

May I paraphrase the following sentence using the mentioned above idiom?

"We must all contribute to the common cause."

"We must all do our bit."
