There are many people asking for Chinese names based on their English names. It's easy for me. But how to get a nice English name--it's really a problem. Because many English words have other meanings. If I get a name randomly, maybe I'll make a terrible mistake. So can you give me some advice on getting a nice English name? Thanks! :)

my name means:

RACHEL f
Usage: English, Jewish, French, German, Biblical
Pronounced: RAY-chel (English), ra-SHEL (French)
Means "ewe" in Hebrew. She was the favourite wife of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin in the Old Testament.

Thank you! Rachel. Where are you from?
I'm always looking for an English name according to my Chinese name, but I still haven't got one. Maybe my Chinese name is hard to pronounce for an English speaking person. So now I am worried, how can my teacher call me? (He's from Birmingham) I think I must get an English name at the moment.

You can't complain about the lack of choice, though. ;-)

Hey Rach,
If your Jacob's wife then I'm your mother-in-law  . The website says this about Rebecca(my real name)-
REBECCA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English, Italian, Biblical
Pronounced: re-BEK-a [key]
Extra Info: Popularity, Related Names, Namesakes, Name Days, Websites, Comments
Options: Contribute Information
From the Hebrew name Ribqah, possibly meaning "a snare" in Hebrew, or perhaps derived from an Aramaic name. This was the name of the wife of Isaac and the mother of Esau and Jacob in the Old Testament. :)

:-D :-D :-D I have got a new English name now- Lydia. Is there any other meanings of this name? It's most similar to the pronunciation of my Chinese name.

And I have a quesiton.;-) Are 'Grace' or 'Freda' seldom used by English people nowadays?

Thanks a lot!:-D
