Do you use the word "subordinate"?

We Japanese often use the word "buka", which means a person who is working under you.

My Japanese-English dictionary, says that we can use subordinate, man, junior and so on.
But it doesn't seem very common to use "subordinate" in an ordinary company. It is more often used in organizations like the army, isn't it?

What would you call the person who is working for you?

So subordinate is not common.
We can use the Japanese word for subordinate almost anytime as long as the person you are talking about is at a lower rank in the organization.
