Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

1- Dogs are better than any other animal(s).

2- No other animals are as good as dogs.

They're fine, though many may disagree with the idea.

In the first sentence, should I use animal or animals?

You can use either. You can also start with "The dog is" but then you would definitely need to end with "animal".
