Could anyone tell me the exact meaning of the quote from Walpole: Don't play for safety--it's the most dangerous thing in the world?

Thank you!

You have to take risks to get the most out of your life. A life led without risk is wasted.

Well, such a life may be wasted, but how come most dangerous? It still doesn't make sense to me...

A decision based on fear is dangerous because it stems from lack of courage. Those who play it safe in life, who base their decisions on fear, are not as successful as those who take risks and base their decisions on courage. Playing it safe is the most dangerous thing you could do to youself and your future.
