Something that took place during the last five years could have taken place at any time within those years

Something that took place over the last five years was continually happening.

Hi there,

I have a question about 'over' and 'during'.

What is the difference between 'over the weekend(s)' and 'during the weekend(s)'?

Thanks
pete

Same as before - during = within the time frame [could be at any point or throughout]; over = all the time frame.

He walked to the beach during the weekend - At some point in the weekend he walked to the beach.

He walked to the beach over the weekend - It took him the whole weekend to walk to the beach.
