I often fail to write some words and letters of what I want to write. These are mostly words like 'it', 'is', 'if', 'am', but not only them (they?).

Can I say that I eat them?

I have heard that used more for sounds than written words.

I'm not sure there is a word for this. You tend to "leave out" or "omit" important words. Is there any other way to say this? In speaking we might say that we "swallow" words when we say them so softly that they aren't heard. But this wouldn't be used in writing.
