1-We had houses badly damaged in front of us.
2-We had houses damaged badly in front of us.

Which of the sentences 1 and 2 corresponds to:
A-We saw some houses get damaged badly in front of us. We saw the damaging while it was being done.
and which corresponds to:
B-In front of us, we saw some houses which had been badly damaged. We had badly damaged houses in front of us.

I would say that both of them correspond to A. This is just my opinion.

More natural would be something like: "As we watched, the houses were badly damaged." Or: "We watched as the houses were badly damaged."

Did you hear about the tornadoes that were in the news lately (here in the USA)? Many houses were badly damaged. Some were completely destroyed. The survivors will for a good while be trying to put their lives back together.

"We had houses" suggests ownership. More natural (as previously suggested) would be "We watched...."
