In the US, the divisions of schooling vary somewhat.

Primary/grammar/elementary school usually consists of 8 years, grades 1 through 8. Secondary/prep/high school is four years. Undergraduate college is usually four years. After that may come graduate school and/or professional school. In some areas, grades 7 and 8 and possibly the first year of high school are called junior high school.
