what's a meaning of the phrase: there is no enduring him

So high and so conceited that there was no enduring him! He walked here, and he walked there, fancying himself so very great!

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for a good first post. Your thread title was relevant and you gave both the phrase and the context/sentence in which you found it. I have made a few amendments to capitalisation and punctuation.

To "endure" someone means to put up with them, to be able to stand being in their company for any length of time. The writer is saying that the person was so arrogant (high) and conceited that it was impossible to happily be in his company.
