Hi,

I am working on my resume and want to express the meaning that I have been involved in some business development activities. Is it correct for me to say "I have been engaged in business development". Or are there better ways to convey my meaning?

PS. A much broader question is that: as a non-native speaker, sometimes I am not sure if my writings look natural (just like the above question). Is there a quick way that I can check if native speakers are using similar expressions (of course, besides asking questions here :)) Thanks a lot.

"I have been engaged in business development" is fine, but not very explicit. You would need to explain in what way you have been involved and what "business development" means.

Your English is very fluent and correct. To check on usages you can try [Davies/BYU] BYU-BNC: British National Corpus

Thank everyone for your kind responses.

Anglika: thank you for your warm words and the encouragement. I find the corpus website you mentioned very, very useful. I have been looking for a website like this for a long time. Thank you so much! This is a wonderful forum.
