I would like to know if we need to capitalize the first letters in the words: College Diploma.

Secondly, which is better:
-Unfortunately, I failed the English Exit exam required in order to receive my college diploma.

-Unfortunately, I failed the English Exit exam required for my college diploma.

I would capitalize college diploma only when used as part of a complete formal name while writing a business letter, for example.

ex.

"In 1997 I earned a Utah College Diploma in Business Administration".

As for your other question, I like the second sentence better...short and to the point. :-D
