I am having a re-think on the answer you have provided.

I feel using all of is not required when all alone will suffice.

However, using all of makes sense in the following example.

"Not all of my friends know about my experiences - but some of them do."

Here all of is necessary to match some of and to keep the meaning of the sentence intact.

I would appreciate your views on this.:-D
