Which of the following sentences is acceptable, #1 or #2 ?

1. Although they grow taros all year round, there still aren't enough taros for them to eat.
2. Although they grow taros all year round, the taros still aren't enough for them to eat.

#1 is good.

You could improve #1 by omitting the second 'taros'.

#2 is not acceptable.
