It's sounds alright to me.
"I still love you, even though the more I run after you, the more you run away."
"The more I run after you, the more you run away. Nevertheless, I still love you."

What problem do you have with it?

It mightn't be the best way to write the sentence, but in this case it's correct.
Another example:
"Even if the more you work, the more you earn, progressive taxation reduces some of the motivation."
Even if [statement], [another statement].
