I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct. I am not sure either if my sentences sound natural.

Every morning before breakfast when the hotel pool opens, the guests scramble for the sun loungers as if they have been waiting for them for days, and then they hurry to place them as closer to the water as they can. These battles occur under the eyes of the staff who struggle to remain straight-faced at the scenes of madness.

See above.
