I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

Every morning Bob makes a few rounds of the town before going to his favourite café, where he drinks coffee and plays cards with his old pals.

I'm not keen on "makes a few rounds of the town". Is he on foot? Driving? Cycling? On a horse? How big is the town? Does he walk round the outside of it or through it a few times?

I could write this?

Every morning Bob makes a few rounds through the town on foot before going to....

What's wrong with the simple "Every morning, Bob walks through town (a few times) before going to ..."?

I'm still not sure what a "round of the town" is. It suggests a circuit.

I wrongly believed that "rounds of the town" would mean that Bob makes his strolls regularly.
Longman has this example:
"the daily round of commuting and shopping."

Ah, I see. No, "the daily round of commuting and shopping" refers to an almost continuous repetitive cycle of activities. For example, "I am fed up with my daily round of breakfast, commute to work, working, commute home, dinner, TV, bed".
You could refer to Bob's daily round of walking round town, going to the cafe and playing cards with his friends.
