Hi, I am from Serbia, and I wonder if you can help me. Actually, I am writing a research paper from morphology about litotes. The problem is that I do not know the examples of litotes in English language in terms of morphology. Actually, I know one example- ASTOUND( earlier it used to mean TO STRIKE WITH THUNDER). I would kindly ask you to provide more examples, if you are willing to. Thank you, Emilija

Litotes = affirmation by negation of the contrary.
example: not a little angry ( that means very angry), furious.

I don't see the connection between litotes and morphology.

Well, I suppose that means apex2000 came up with the right answer.

Let me add a couple more:

You will not find me ungrateful.
It wasn't totally unexpected.
That is a not inconsiderable amount.

("Not inconsiderable" was allegedly a particular favourite of former British Prime Minister John Major's; he was often mocked for it.)
