Some software thinks it's possible.

But if somebody write an algorithm using this method, for example in Matlab, the program code/algorithm will work but if the results fly off the root, the code fails, even though the program appeared to worked.

Just because someone coded in the constant '100,000' instead of the correct value of '100' and you got a ridiculous answer doesn't mean the algorithm/code failed/didn't work. It gave you exactly the answer that it should have.
