Do the following two expressions have the same meaning to describe the situation in which a son who has lived with his parents is about to move out due to his marriage ?

- establish a family branch
- start a new family

thanks

In AmE, we'd say that "he is leaving the nest." Once his wife is with child, we might say that he is "adding a branch to the family tree." "Starting a new family" doesn't necessarily mean that he is moving out from his parents' home, it just means that he is having a child.
