I am wondering if my sentences make sense in English.

Fear and realisation struck Peter that he had fallen in love with his boss's wife. He didn't want to lose her, but he didn't want to lose his job either.

I think you could could simplify it, thus:

It struck Peter that he had fallen in love with his boss's wife. He didn't want to lose her, but he didn't want to lose his job either.
