Hi,

I am learning English and found few of the correction with out explanation. Would any one like to let me know the explanation


Wrong: I was agreed
Right: I agreed
Doubt: why was is not used here.


Wrong: She was half sleep the time you called me this morning.
Right: She was half asleep the time you called me in the morning
Doubt: why asleep is used here?


Wrong: I used to take five words new every day to learn English
Right: I used to chose five words new every day to learn English. usage
Doubt: Why can’t I use “take” here

Few more questions here:


What is the difference between the adamant and stubborn?
What is the meaning of manifestation? Could please let me know how to use it?

Active voice. It was YOU who agreed. Nobody forced you to agree.
Wrong: She was half sleep the time you called me this morning.
Right: She was half asleep the time you called me in the morning
Doubt: why asleep is used here?
Sleep is a verb; asleep is an adjective. You can't use auxiliaries with infinitive.
What is the meaning of manifestation? Could please let me know how to use it?
Do you understand the words 'embodiment', 'incarnation'? It's about the same thing. "He was regarded as the pure manifestation of fortitude and courage."
Another meaning is an indication or a sign of something: "His improved English is a clear manifestation of his diligence."
It can also mean a public demonstration.

I used to pick five new words from my English dictionary in order of alphabet (or randomly) to improve my vocabulary.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. I do obey the rule not to sent the the multiple questions..

I had read these grammar rule in my 12th standard but forgot all of these. It is really a good refresh through your answers..thanks
