Hello,
I would like to ask a few questions about the word "idea" which are as follows:
Q1: Can I replace "notion" with "idea?"
Locals have this ridiculous notion/idea that hostility is a tool to keep people away?
Q2: Government has not ruled out the idea that he could be killer?
To me, idea, here, doesn't mean a notion or belief but a theory. Am I right?
Q3: Do you think I like the idea of him being in the jail.
Does it mean that he doesn't like the thought of him being in jail?
Q4: I am only letting her go the party, don't get any ideas.
What does "idea" mean here.
BTW, I have looked up "idea" in Longman and Oxford dictionary, yet I can't tell what exactly does it mean.
Thank you for your help and consideration.
