Chemist find __ to detect and measure the amount of chlorine in any given water supply.
A)are easy B)easily
C)it easy D)how easily

We know that C is the answer, but if asked for an explanation. How are we going to describe it from the grammatical point of view ?

I would say that find it easy is an idiom that is shorthand for have an easy time doing or have no difficulty doing. (The word should be Chemists.)
