Are the 2 sentences below the same ?

1. It is like a crying sound to me.
2. It is like a crying sound for me.

I use #1 unless it is meant for me as opposed to some other person or thing. She was crying for me, not for that other guy. It was like a crying sound for me, not for my best friend.

If it is just the identification of a sound that is similar to crying then i'd always use "to me it is like a crying sound".....or as worded in #1.
