I suddenly found myself running down the street when I found a crowd of people gathered in the street corner.

I came across this sentence in my test paper and I think this sentence sounds odd with two 'found's. And is 'gathered' correctly used here? How would the sentence sound to native ears?

Thank you in advance.

It sounds like it was written by a non native. How do you "suddenly find yourself running"? Is there any more context for it?

Thank you, bhaisahab.
There's no context. Just this sentence that needs us to choose from 'ran/run/running/runs' to fill in the blank. I know the answer is 'running' but doubt if this sentence sounds good. And how about the 'gathered'?

It sounds the way people describe a dream, doesn't it. One minute I was having tea with a pink elephant, and then I suddenly found myself running...

Anyway, "gathered" is fine.
