Which one?
"That chair is different from that chair."
or
"That chair is different than that chair."

Both are used.

But you can only say 'That chair differs from that chair.'

I think there is also a dialect thing here.

"different than" is American English (possibly also Canadian?)

"different from" is British English, or at least the British English I am familiar with.

"Different from" is certainly British English, though I am increasingly aware of the use of "different than" particularly from American native speakers.
