fun and funny

Oce I said to my English teacher (native speaker) that her lessons were funny and she asked me if I meant they were fun.
I have always used the word funny and fun as synonims. Is it correct? (I know that funny also means something like strange)

fun means, enjoyable
funny means, laughable; strange, odd
